{A day to remember}

Today was a good day. REALLY good day.

Today I got to remember my amazing dad:)
I mean I remember him every single day, but today was special.

I remembered how his hands looked, big veins {like worms under dirt is how i remember them}, stained with some kind of oil or glue or many other things he got into, they way they looked after he trimmed up his finger nails {ha nail clippers were for wimps, he used a pocket knife}

I remembered how he smelled. like the fresh open air, a good day of hard work, like a baseball glove.

I remembered his smile, it spread from 1 ear to the other with a little gap in between the 2 front teeth, a pure cowboy smile. his laugh so contagious, he could get the whole family going, and he did today, even though he wasn't present{physically}.

I remember his hugs. BEAR-like hugs, enough to make it hard to breathe, but never enough to want to let go. I always felt safe in his arms. I miss that.

His Australian brim hat. my mom hated it. he loved it. I think thats why he always wore it, to tease my mom. He was like that, teasing, joking, playing. I don't think the kid spirit left when the adult version was supposed to come in.

I LOVED that about my dad, he was a big kid, life was his playground and he knew it well. he taught me the same thing and I am striving to live it as well as he did.

His presence, that I still feel and Im so grateful. I feel him at my side most days, helping me along the crooked,bumpy path of what we call life. my guardian. I am so grateful.

Most of all I remember our baseball nights. That how I got to know my dad, put a baseball in 1 hand and a glove in the other and talking about horses, cattle, etc. Thats how I discovered that I have the most amazing dad in the world. He taught me that baseball is not just a game, it's patience, determination, persistence, successes and failures, its fun. It's LIFE.

my dad taught me that. He is, with out a doubt the most amazing man ever. I am so lucky I had 21 yrs with his amazing knowledge in life, the church, how to have fun, his hugs, smiles, laughs, his presence.

Im one lucky girl.

and the cool thing is, I still get him for eternity.

Like I said, Im one lucky girl:)

I love you daddy.

oh and I almost forgot.

these were left in my work truck this morning when I showed up. I wonder who they are from.

Its a mystery...
